Bereavement Coordinator

 

Karen A. Bladergroen, MS, LPC, ATR-BC has worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Art Therapist in a variety of settings. She began working at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Karen has worked with families, children, and adolescents.  She had the opportunity to work with families on the Pediatric unit and in Hematology- Oncology. Karen has taught Art Therapy and Counseling in several graduate program, most recently at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.

In her current position as Bereavement Coordinator with Noah’s Children she can focus her energy on serving the psychosocial needs of families in our palliative care program. She recently moved to Richmond, Virginia for this position and is excited about the holistic approach that is embodied by the team at Noah’s Children.  Karen integrates a mindful, creative, and compassionate focus in her interactions with patients and families.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She completed her graduate studies in Art Therapy and Counseling at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Karen is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia and a registered art therapist with board-certification.

Karen is a native of Northern Virginia. She enjoys painting outside in nature, hiking, and playing with her Lab, Mattie.
