Dr. Lisa “Blair” Bell has known since she was a young child that she wanted to be a nurse. Unlike most teenagers, her first job was in the medical field. While her friends were waiting tables or bagging groceries, she was working with patients with dementia in a long-term care facility in Richmond. This experience amplified her passion for caring for patients and their families.

She obtained her undergraduate degree from Lynchburg College and then came back to Richmond to begin her career as a pediatric nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital. She absolutely loved the time she got to spend providing direct patient care to children; however, she also felt strongly that her love for this population needed to be shared. Blair moved into a nurse educator role where she advocated for the unique population and provided support and education to the nursing team. This work was extremely rewarding and drove her to advanced education. In 2014, she graduated from The University of Virginia with her Master’s Degree in Nursing, and in December 2019 she graduated from James Madison University with her Doctorate in Nursing.

She formerly served as the Practice Administrator for the pediatric outpatient setting overseeing operations for all of the Bon Secours Medical Group’s pediatric specialty clinics. That role allowed her to continue to advocate, support, and care for patients, their families, and staff members. Blair says, “Having Noah’s Children join as part of our pediatric specialty team has been amazing. The work that is done by Noah’s team is extraordinary and supports everything that I have always fought for as a pediatric nurse.”

Noah’s Children is honored to care for pediatric patients and their families in some of their most vulnerable moments. Blair says, “My job may no longer lead me to the bedside to care for patients and families, but I am privileged to walk beside many amazing teams of pediatric health care providers to ensure they have the tools they need to provide excellent patient care on a daily basis.” Dr. Blair was promoted to the Director of the Women’s and Children’s Service Line.
