Noah’s understands that taking care of a chronically ill child is like nothing else a family has been through and knows the different systems and specialty care that goes into it. Even our families that have been living this life for years can still benefit from our support and education.

Our social work services aim to reduce stress and enhance your family’s quality of life. They include:

Conducting an initial assessment of your family’s support systems (emotional, spiritual and financial) and identifying any gaps that may exist.

Arranging referrals to appropriate community services and resources.

Providing skilled intervention including therapeutic play and creative arts for children with chronic, complex and/or life-threatening conditions and their families.

Performing comprehensive and ongoing assessment of the child and family, providing advocacy and education as needed.

Providing support and education to families regarding how to talk to the other children about the ill child’s diagnosis and prognosis.

Counseling the family through the anticipatory grieving (which often begins at the time of diagnosis of the illness) and active grieving.

Just as no two families or situations are the same, the social services offered by Noah’s Children are custom tailored to each family’s individual needs.
