The Jones family

The Jones family

We didn’t know anyone other than the doctors and nurses who worked with Allie. But through regular visits and family-sponsored activities, Noah’s Children introduced us to a whole network of other families who were going through similar situations. They’ve been a blessing in our lives.

In no way is the process of dying a ‘matter-of-fact’ occurrence. But Noah’s makes it so you’re not afraid of it. They don’t make the process of dying easy, but it becomes more comfortable because the fear is gone. At the end, no one is afraid. They are sad, but not afraid. It helps make death a more peaceful process. It’s just the best way for the child and the family.

Thank you so much for including me in the wonderful event for Noah’s Children. I am beyond inspired by the work you do for kids all over Richmond. Thanks also for the cool piece of art — it reminds me of the great night in Richmond and all of the kids who through your inspiration and love have better lives!

We had never been through anything like this before, so we were completely unprepared. Noah’s Children came in and educated us about the disease, the statistics, the prognosis and what to expect. Not knowing what would happen was incredibly difficult. But having the birth plan Noah’s developed gave us a roadmap, so we would know what to do.
— Mother of an unborn child diagnosed with anencephaly, who died at birth
You have made our lives so much easier and so much more fun! Our entire family had a wonderful time at Camp Hilbert. It was the best experience. The children loved swimming! It was amazing to not have to worry about lunch!! The Sweet Frog truck was the best—it’s hard for us to go there with 4 kids and a wheelchair. But that’s your secret. All of that is hard if not downright impossible for families like ours. And you make it possible. Bless you all and thank you so much for these memories. We live for this!

We didn’t know what to do or what to think. We were completely unprepared. And then Noah’s Children came into our lives and helped us understand the disease and the process. They were there just to talk to us about our fluctuating emotions and how we were feeling overall. It meant so much.
— Father of a 6-year-old child born with Trisomy 13
Words can never fully describe the last 18 months of my family’s life. The support and love of Noah’s Children employees and volunteers never can be repaid.
— Mother of a Noah’s Children patient
I couldn’t have survived this long without Noah’s Children. The staff and volunteers do so much for us. I can call the nurses or social worker anytime to ask them questions. But for us, the best thing about Noah’s Children is that they work with the whole family, not just the special needs of the child.
— Mother of a child with Sanfilippo Syndrome

I appreciate the care of communication with me as the mother on how I’m feeling and asking what they can do to make it easier as far as burnout, medication refills, and communication with the physicians.”
— The Mast Family
I have enjoyed having nurses come to appointments, but also I just like to have the feedback with appointments. I feel like things come up constantly it is so nice to talk through them with those who have the expertise.

It’s great to have spiritual support available when needed. The Chaplain has also been instrumental in connecting us with other spiritual support resources.

The Parent Support Group has been a great asset to my life and a much-needed support system. Grief isn’t one size fits all and having a support group is very helpful

I just want to say how helpful Noah’s has been. I’ve learned more of my child’s diagnosis and learned the different ways I can explain to my other children what’s wrong with their sibling. They really try their hardest to make this journey stress-free and are doing a wonderful job.

The Bereavement program and services have provided counseling to everyone in my family. Without this level of support, I don’t know where my family would be.

Music Therapy is a Godsend! I’ve seen my daughter grow so much with this service.

The hospital boxes are perfect for unexpected stays. It was perfect! I needed a way to take notes and there was a small notebook in there, the patient LOVES Word-Find puzzles and that was in there, too. The bag was full of much-needed supplies and goodies that kept us entertained and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it all.” Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

The financial aid services are such a precious blessing because financially we’re struggling. It’s very exhausting financially to have a child with significant needs for many years. To have grocery store cards and gas cards for the many miles on the road make such a difference.” Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

My daughter was all smiles when she received not only a mail package in her name but a wrapped gift from her wish list. –
— Mother of a patient with Alexander’s Disease
After being isolated for so long we attended the event on the farm and had so much fun!! All the Noah’s staff and volunteers we interacted with that day were so super sweet and to eat Chick-fil-A was icing on the cake! I love how the organization supports our entire family.

We appreciate all the family events. We do not get out much, so we try to take advantage of all the parents and family events. Noah’s Children does a great job at thinking of EVERYTHING and making each event special down to the smallest details. We love you all for what you do and how hard you work to help support all the families!
