Childrens Table

A good children’s table can be a great focal point in a small room or nursery. A table serves as a natural meeting and exchange point for childhood interaction and role play. Before a thorough understanding of the role of the table is outlined, a brief interlude into what it is commonly constructed of will be referenced. Depending on the manufacturer, a wide variety of construction materials are used in the fabrication process for children’s tables. The most commonly used item is plastic, with snap into place joints. Wood is a close second will small picnic tables abounding in several color. Lastly, there are luxury mediums like birch wood, or EVA-constructed tables. EVA is a foam copolymer that is quite strong, as well as water and crack resistant, and for that reason was made into tables and chairs in 2002.

The overall functionality of the table is twofold. One is a socializing area. A child learns form a young age that the table is the location for family discussions and meals. A typical child will also role-play the things they experience in their life and project onto the situation they fabricate. The second is a simple functioning surface for the child. A child might read a book, but have nowhere to sit. They might wish to draw or engage in any of a number of activities that requires a stable flat surface, and certain children’s tables will not let you down.
