Dr. Bob Archuleta

Founder, Medical Director

Bob A. Archuleta, MD, FAAP, FAAHPM, founder and medical director of Noah’s Children, has been a practicing pediatrician for three decades. He founded the organization because he was inspired by the creativity and compassion of young students who encouraged him to help sick and dying children.

He is board certified by both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Archuleta received the President’s Award from the Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics for founding Noah’s Children, and was awarded the Distinguished Service for Ministry to Children by the Richmond Academy of Medicine. He was named a 2010 Purpose Prize Fellow for combining passion and experience for social good.

Dr. Archuleta advocates for children to be referred to the organization at the time of their life-threatening diagnoses, rather than in their last days. Making this early connection allows families to prepare for the emotional, spiritual and social aspects of the dying process.

He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wyoming and medical degree from the University of Colorado. He has been married for 35 years and has two children.

A team effort is essential. I’ve learned very clearly in my 15 years providing hospice and palliative care that there’s no one individual who can do it alone.
